JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The Manager, Tax UK & Europe will support Pizza Hut’s UK tax function through tax compliance, reporting, planning, provisions, controls, and process execution for 10+ subsidiaries throughout Europe. This role will help establish and operate standalone UK tax capabilities as Pizza Hut transitions to an independent entity, partnering closely with Finance, Controllership, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, and external advisors to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant tax outcomes. The role requires strong UK tax technical knowledge, hands-on execution, sound judgment, ability to manage outsource providers, and the ability to operate effectively in a lean and evolving environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

UK Tax Compliance and Filings 

  • Manage and support preparation, review, and timely filing of UK corporate tax returns, estimates, payments, disclosures, and related compliance deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors to gather data, validate inputs, resolve issues, and maintain documentation required for UK tax filings and reporting.
  • Support compliance calendars, tax payment processes, return-to-provision analysis, and other recurring UK tax compliance activities.
  • Review tax workpapers, calculations, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and strengthen UK tax compliance processes as Pizza Hut builds standalone capabilities.

Tax Provision, Reporting, and Controls 

  • Support quarterly and annual tax provision processes, including preparation and review of provision calculations, schedules, reconciliations, and disclosures.
  • Partner with Controllership, Accounting, and external advisors to support accurate tax accounting, reporting, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Assist with tax forecasting, effective tax rate analysis, cash tax planning, and related reporting for leadership and Finance partners.
  • Execute and enhance tax controls, documentation standards, review procedures, and governance processes in a standalone environment.
  • Support readiness for SEC reporting, statutory reporting, and other tax-related requirements as Pizza Hut transitions to independent operations.

UK Tax Planning, Research, and Business Support

  • Conduct tax research and analysis related to UK corporate tax matters, including legislative and regulatory changes impacting Pizza Hut’s business.
  • Support tax planning initiatives, business transactions, entity structuring, intercompany arrangements, and growth initiatives from a UK tax perspective.
  • Translate technical tax considerations into clear guidance, risks, and recommendations for Finance, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, and business partners.
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Tax to assess tax implications of separation-related activities, including TSA management, contract transitions, and Day 1 readiness.
  • Support tax strategy execution by identifying planning opportunities, compliance risks, and process improvements aligned to business objectives.

Audit Support, Risk Management, and Governance 

  • Support UK tax audits, notices, inquiries, and controversy matters by preparing documentation, coordinating responses, and partnering with external advisors as needed.
  • Maintain organized tax records, workpapers, support files, and evidence for compliance, reporting, audit, and control purposes.
  • Identify, escalate, and help mitigate tax risks related to compliance, reporting, controls, transactions, and business operations.
  • Support development of tax policies, procedures, governance materials, and issue tracking needed for a standalone UK tax operating model.

Cross-Functional Partnership and External Advisor Management 

  • Partner with Finance, Controllership, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, and business teams to support tax-related processes, reporting, analysis, and business decisions.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and service providers to support compliance, reporting, planning, research, audit, and transformation needs.
  • Communicate tax requirements, timelines, risks, and follow-up actions clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Operate with strong ownership, urgency, professionalism, and attention to detail in a lean and evolving tax function.

People Leadership

  • Individual Contributor - No direct reports expected for this role; may provide work direction, review support, and coordination for external advisors and cross-functional contributors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 6 years of progressive experience in corporate tax, public accounting, law firm, or related tax roles.
  • Strong background in UK corporate tax compliance, reporting, provisions, planning, and controls.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing tax returns, tax provisions, workpapers, reconciliations, estimates, extensions, and related reporting deliverables.
  • Experience supporting tax audits, notices, regulatory inquiries, documentation requests, or controversy matters preferred.
  • Experience working with external advisors, auditors, cross-functional Finance partners, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience within or alongside multinational organizations, restaurant, retail, franchise, consumer, or public company environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting process improvement, controls, reporting enhancements, separation activities, or finance transformation initiatives preferred.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a lean, fast-paced, ambiguous, and evolving environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK corporate tax compliance, reporting, provisions, and planning concepts.
  • Strong analytical, research, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex tax information.
  • High attention to detail with strong ownership of accuracy, documentation, controls, records management, and follow-through.
  • Ability to translate technical tax matters into clear insights, risks, recommendations, and action steps for non-tax stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, Controllership, and external advisors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain quality under time-sensitive reporting and compliance cycles.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, accountability, and commitment to compliance, governance, and financial stewardship.
  • Curiosity, continuous improvement mindset, and willingness to help build scalable tax processes in a standalone organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA, Master’s in Tax, JD, LLM, or a related credential.
