Lead GoLang Software Engineer


We're looking for a passionate Lead Software Engineer with a proven track record of delivering challenging software projects who would thrive in an inclusive, forward-thinking digital company.

You will be part of an Agile Scrum team leading the technical design decisions and implementation for Go, GraphQL, and PHP based services. As a leader on the team, you will set the example for engineers – writing code and managing code reviews with constructive feedback. You will be a peer and partner to your Product Owner – bringing forward the engineering point of view in early discovery meetings with business stakeholders. This will include gaining a deep understanding of projects so you can take complex problems and break them down into smaller decisions for estimations and planning. You will also be the primary touch point for higher level architecture and engage with area specific Architects and Site Reliability Engineers to vet and approve technical approaches.


* Drive high quality delivery and deployment of features and systems capable of working with existing systems and processes
* Provide technical leadership to engineers building knowledge and support within the team
* Build shippable product increments that meet the goals set with Product Owners
* Document new applications or changes made to existing applications
* Diagram current and future architectural plans
* Clearly communicate technical concepts
* Manage code reviews, promoting collaboration and engagement
* Ensure code quality and test coverage for applications
* Participate in the estimation process for high-level initiatives
* Reduce and minimize technical debt
* Troubleshoot application and system issues
* Stay current on emerging technologies

Requirements & Qualifications:

* Have relevant Computer Science/IT related qualifications
* 5-10 years software development experience that includes designing, building, deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining highly scalable and reliable microservices
* 3+ years of experience in Go (Golang) for service-based architecture
* 2+ years of experience in another strongly type systems language, preferably PHP
* GraphQL experience a plus
* Expertise in using CI/CD tools and setting up build pipelines
* 2+ years of experience with Kubernetes
* Expertise in middleware patterns such as: REST, WebAPI, Service Bus
* Expertise in data storage technology
* Familiar with agile methodologies and work management tools i.e. Jira, Rally, Git, Bitbucket
* Experience applying test-driven development practices with a deep understanding of unit testing, integration and system testing
* Participation and familiarity with open source projects is a plus
